Seventeen-year-old Lily Baker has just graduated high school. Up until this point, life has been pretty predictable. She’s in love with her high school sweetheart—Ty—planning to attend one of the premiere biomechanical engineering schools in the country next fall, and has all summer to enjoy the Florida sun, sand, and surf.
But a simple glance in the rearview mirror lands Lily’s car in the shallows of a Central Florida lake. A stranger pulls her from the vehicle, saving her life, but leaving only his name--Jackson--as a clue. The problem is, Lily’s the only one who saw him, and the police are telling a different story.
Now Lily’s got a broken arm and a head injury that has her wondering what’s real.

The plot and mystery of what was happening to Lily drew me in and kept me reading. Because of how the story progresses, there are lots of questions and it's not clear who to trust. This and the pacing kept me tense in multiple places, especially the ending. This is a slow burn start, with a couple bits of steam. There are two possible love interests introduced in book 1 and per the author, this will be a slow build RH, so I expect more establishment of the relationships to happen in later books. The story is told from Lily's POV except for the final chapter, which is in another character's POV.
When she first sees a boy in the mirror, Lily's not sure what's happening and I thought Ms. James did an excellent job with the emotional impact Lily was experiencing. She's dealing with the trauma of a car accident and what she thinks is a mental impact of seeing hallucinations. I didn't love Lily as a FMC, but we meet her immediately following the accident so don't get to see how she was outside of these events. She seemed to be very affected by the connection the mirror created and it changed how she interacted with others and her actions. I liked her curiosity, her drive and determination to investigate, and her interest in music though. I think with whatever's happening, there is significant growth coming her way, and I'm all about character development.
As Lily and Jackson (the boy in the mirror) talk about what's happening and why they might have this connection, I both liked their growing relationship and I felt awful for Lily's boyfriend, who she was with prior to the car accident/mirror seeing. Lily is conflicted about her feelings for Jackson vs. Tyler (her boyfriend), but how she handles it bothered me. In fairness, her character isn't quite 18, is dealing with a completely unknown situation, and whatever connects her and Jackson is incredibly strong, pulling them together. While there's no physical cheating, since they're separated, I felt there was emotional cheating in the way it was written. I'm not certain if the boyfriend is intended to be part of the final group with Lily or not. Even if he is, it's not how I prefer characters' relationships in RH to start, but that's my preference and it may not bother others.
This first book focuses on introducing the current characters we've met, introducing the mystery, and laying down breadcrumbs for what's to come. We mostly get hints of answers in this book and it ends on a cliffhanger, but I enjoyed the twists and turns of not knowing what to expect. There were some editing issues sporadically in the book and sometimes I did have to go back and re-read a part, but overall I thought the writing was well-done. There was no mm or ff and no other woman drama. I'll be checking out book 2 to see what happens next.

I enjoyed this! I have been dreaming of a parallel universe plot for a while, and RH makes it even better, even though I’m dying to know who will be in her harem.
This was written well, though there seemed to be a few continuity errors at times. I really liked that it takes place in the Central Florida area, i could pinpoint exactly where areas were so that was fun!
There are still a lot of questions to be asked, and i felt like i was in a movie being gaslit with the fmc but that was part of the fun. I felt bad for her boyfriend at times, but I’m also interested in how he’ll be handled as he seems to be really nice and I’d like for him to be in her harem.
Can’t wait for the next book!

*** 4 1/2 stars ***
Mirror Image is the first book ive read by this writer and i can honestly say that i liked it. Its a refreshingly different romance. Lily has a car crash at the beginning of this book and shes saved by the enigmatic Jackson. It starts off with her seeing him in her bedroom mirror but no-one else can. Its a clever read where Lily and her family dont know if shes losing her mind or not? It keeps you guessing with her but you also feel a sadness as well too. With knowing that Lily and Jackson should be together but everything stopping them from that. I really liked Lily and Jackson. There was a lovely genuine sweetness to their dynamic that endeared them to me. Oh boy that ending was just brilliant. A great read and im looking forward to book 2

I loved this book! The story and plot pulled me in right from the beginning and I wanted so badly to know what was going to happen that I didn't want to stop reading! I can't wait to find out what happens next with Lily and Jacks' story!

I think that every girl dreams of one day finding their perfect soul mate. The one that has all the same interests as you, and who makes you feel like you were meant to be together. Mirror Image is a perfect example of just that. It was a beautifully written fictional novel.
It was a wonderfully romantic love story and I was always left wanting more. Even though it was over 300 pages, it flowed smoothly, and definitely didn't feel like it took forever to finish. Do Lily and Jackson come together, and become the soul mates they were meant to be? You will just have to read the book to find out.

3.5. I wasn’t super into it when it started but even before it was half away through I got really invested in it. Lily’s been in a car accident when she sees someone in her rear view mirror. She thinks she’s crazy when she keeps seeing a boy, Jackson, in her mirrors. He’s from a parallel dimension. And as they get to know each other things become more complicated.
I don’t know if I would have felt different about the beginning if she hadn’t had a boyfriend or loving family. But something about her suddenly being “obsessed” with Jackson so suddenly put me off at first. But the whole universe drew me in and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

I have mad goosebumps!! 😅 I didn't know wether Lily was crazy, if I was going crazy or if the author had gone crazy 😂 the whole way through it had me guessing if everything was real or her brain playing mind tricks after the accident. I mean, these things do happen?! Them last two chapters 🤯 that was intense 😅🙈 and that ending!!! I'm left feeling sorry for one guy but happy for the other?! I literally cannot say anything without spoilers 🤐 I didn't know if I was going to get into this book at first, but glad I stuck it out.

I received an ARC of this book and holy smokes Batman, am I glad I was privileged enough to get one!
The book starts off with the FMC lily being in a car accident. Like bang, straight into the action. Just the way I like it.
Even with the impactful start, I found the first part of the book a little slow but once I hit around the 20% Mark I found it hard to put the book down. It had me questioning everything I thought I knew, right up until the very end. If you like a suspenseful, slow burn romance book, I highly recommend this one. Can’t wait to read more from Bailey James in the future!
TLDR? Let me break it down
+ likeable characters with believable narratives

I'm thankful to have received an ARC of this book. The premise is so different and it is soooooo hard to find something good AND different.
It was hard for me to get into the book. I had read an out of this world 5* book before this one and as a reader, it's hard to come down from the thrill of getting your hands on something that rocks your world. I stopped reading Mirror Image about 24% because I knew I wasn't able to give it a fair chance. I read a couple stand alone books in completely different genres...authors I'd read before so I knew I'd like the book but not "rub myself all over it and make it mine forever" love it. That helped get me in the right frame of mind to focus on Mirror Image.
The book was good. I love that it started with action. I knew it was going to be slow burn so not making it slow everything else was a good start. The FMC, Lily, is young...and acts like it. Her relationships and conversations are completely appropriate for her 1 week from age 18 self and it was so.freaking.weird!! I read tons and most authors want their 18 year female characters to look 18 but act 30 and still talk 18 with her friends but talk more mature with side characters and all I see is a 6 year old trying to walk around in her Mommy's stilettos. Maybe that's why I had such a hard time with Lily. She was scattered and flighty and just kinda seemed innocent. She acted her age. And so did her friends. I didn't know how to deal with that. The romance with Ty seemed to be there because it was expected rather than being something great. And the black box? What the heck??!!
I liked Jackson but again, he's young and written young! Some of their interactions and reactions had me rolling my eyes or saying WTF! I'm sometimes a fan of instalove and it's expected and appropriate at this point of the story. The constant questioning of her sanity had ME questioning whether or not she was hallucinating too and although I enjoyed that part of the story, it made me jittery. There was so much reality mixed in with parallel dimensions and mirror communication that my brain couldn't decide how to process the information. And by reality I mean really how friends and parents would react in this type of situation. Nothing was outlandish or malicious.
We did get a cliffhanger at the end. That was expected. And honestly, it was the last chapter of the book that really turned it around for me. I'm stunned to see this is a RH. I can't wrap my head around how that's going to come about. At the very least I will read the next book to watch that happen. I'm glad I stuck with it.

This book was amazing and such a page turner for me!! It was definitely a book where you had to know what was going to happen next!! The blurb pulled me in right away. The storyline was fantastic and I loved all of the wonderful characters ♥️ Since this is the first book in this series, it does end on a cliffhanger, which is a twist ending!! This book definitely has me guessing and I absolutely can’t wait to find out what happens next!!
Lily is driving home, one night, and gets into a car accident. She could’ve died, since she landed into the water, but a mysterious boy saves her then disappears. When Lily wakes up in the hospital, she swears a boy saved her, but nobody believes her. They’re saying she was hit by a drunk driver who fled the scene. Lily also swears she is seeing this boy in mirrors. At first, she thinks she’s crazy and is scared. She confides in her boyfriend, Ty, who is very much in love with Lily. She starts talking to Jackson, the boy in the mirror, and they grow closer. Jackson has been in love with Lily since the first moment he saw her, through her bedroom mirror, months before the accident. Soon Lily starts to fall for Jackson, wanting to spend all of her time with him. He tells Lily he is from another dimension, and there seems to be a conspiracy where other couples who can see each other through the mirror portal, end up disappearing or dead. So they try to find a way to each other. Ty worries about Lily, so he tells her family she is seeing Jackson in her mirror. Nobody believes her. They think it’s brain damage from the accident. Bailey James is a new author to me, but Mirror Image just got her a lifelong reader. This book was a pretty slow of a burn, so if you usually go for immediate steam this book might not be for you, however, I encourage you to give it a try because the storyline is *chef's kiss*. Alternate realities, a prophecy, a cult with an unknown agenda, and a ton of mystery give this book the ability to grab you and not let go.
I don't think I've ever read a reverse harem quite like this one. This is mainly because usually there is some general idea of who will be added as the story continues. I have a feeling this will be a slow build. There are definitely two candidates as of right now but the feelings are a bit wishy washy like you'd expect from a young character. Other than that, it's hard for me to contemplate how the RH aspect will come into play as the series continues. However, I don't really know what to expect after the ending we were given. Anything could happen now. There are a whole lot of unfamiliar things in store for Lily and I'm sure relationships are one of them.
Now about that ending. Holy cow, what a cliffhanger!! Never in my life have I questioned my own mind and the mind of a character while reading this much. This book makes you repeatedly ask yourself if everything is real or a hallucination that Lily's brain cooked up after her accident. I was hyperventilating thinking about the possibility of James giving me a Bruce Willis Sixth Sense moment for a second there. However, what I was left with was the insatiable need to continue this series. The next book should be amazing!

Refreshing soul mates story, very romantic and good world-building. Jackson and Lily are some characters you will love meeting. I definitely want to read more of the series. I am intrigued by the concept the author created here.

First time I've read anything from this author and I will definitely be reading any and all other publications!!
The writing was perfect - the book and concept were wonderful. I have read a few 'similar' mirror mage books, but this one is probably one of the most memorable so far. I loved the decision for her to have a boyfriend (usually I like to only have 1 focus) but I appreciate his impact on the story. My favourite was the end:

When there was a moment where the author had me genuinely questioning Lily's (and my own) sanity! It had the potential to be one of those epic 'book twist' moments - but it was very much a situation where I was played like a fiddle (which I love!!). By the way, if anyone likes books with a similar twist I recommend 'made you up' by Francesca Zappia.
But overall I highly recommend this read!!
Short Notes: Fairly PG, faster than a slow burn - closer to instalove (but still slower than that). Gives me some contemporary vibes, even though it is more paranormal/fantasy. It's not a love triangle if those aren't your thing (Lily is falling for Jackson and falling out of love with Ty). Characters are around 18 (no overuse of 'young cliche themes' if that's your pet peeve). Also no 'special snowflake' (just a girl scared she's insane). Hope this helps :)

Thank you to bailey and Affinity for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is the First book of Bailey's that I have read and it certainly will not be the last. I was intrigued by mirror image from many of the teasers we had and I thoroughly enjoyed the first part of Lilly's story.
Mirror Image is told from Lilly's point of view and truthfully throughout this book yu are not only questioning her sanity but your own as this book throws many curve balls at you making you second guess everything you were thinking.
Lilly sees a man in the mirror and this man causes her to feel things she has never felt before but is questioning whether this is real o her mind playing tricks on her because of her accident. The problem is there isn't just one person that it could be there are more which has you gripped and reading more to try and unravel the story further.
this is a slow burn, Reverse Harem book and if you like a lot of steam this probably isn't the book for you however, if you want a book that will grip you, keep you guessing and make you want to know more then this is certainly a book for you.
My only critique would be that at times the book got a little confusing but it didn't affect the read.
Bailey James, I loved reading this and can not wait for the next instalment.

Mirror Image is told from Lilly's point of view and truthfully throughout this book yu are not only questioning her sanity but your own as this book throws many curve balls at you making you second guess everything you were thinking.
Lilly sees a man in the mirror and this man causes her to feel things she has never felt before but is questioning whether this is real o her mind playing tricks on her because of her accident. The problem is there isn't just one person that it could be there are more which has you gripped and reading more to try and unravel the story further.
this is a slow burn, Reverse Harem book and if you like a lot of steam this probably isn't the book for you however, if you want a book that will grip you, keep you guessing and make you want to know more then this is certainly a book for you.
My only critique would be that at times the book got a little confusing but it didn't affect the read.
Bailey James, I loved reading this and can not wait for the next instalment.

I love the RH genre. “Why Choose” is practically my life motto. If you don’t like one woman with multiple partners in committed relationships, then this isn’t the book for you. With that disclaimer out of the way, the book is worth the read. The plot is somewhat familiar in the same way a lot of books are but I think it has a unique twist that makes it interesting and different. Even with the note that this is a slow build, it warrants noting that this series will not be over in a couple books. The world building is slow and some may find this first book too slow. There is a pretty big cliffhanger at the end but only in the sense that there’s still so much more we have to find out. Regarding the characters, I am not sure how I feel about Lily’s bf yet. I’m suspicious of him and haven’t figured out if he will be in the harem. Or if I want him to be. His phone conveniently being off at the beginning and not reaching out for 2 days is not giving me warm feelings regardless of his excuses. Other than him, we’ve really only met one other potential guy. All in all, I’m more than interested in how the story progresses and who else we meet along the way!

“This story was interesting from the very beginning it had me on the edge and soon I was lost in the pages. It had secrets and some scary moments that had me glued till sunset lol. There was action and a super slow burn pace that I hate lol. To be honest, at some point I wasn’t liking Lily and some of the characters, they seemed so childish and yeah I confess annoying but they were kids so it was more like I’m used to older characters or young characters with adult thinking? It’s weird I know but it really was an issue for me. So far the parallel worlds and the mirror communication was like fresh air. The end left me broken hearted, that cliff!! I’m looking forward for the next book. Last but no less important I absolutely love it’s a RH, yes!!! Exactly what I love the most though like I say it’s more likely to be a super slow slow burn romance and I’m dying to see the love development and the steamy scenes because the plot was catching but I need more than just a good story I’m here for the spice, the scenes that can burn your kindle. The ‘holding hands and barely kissing’ kind of romance isn’t my jam anymore, no clean romance for me.”

Bailey James is a new to me Author and I really enjoyed this book. I did struggle a little at first but once I got farther into it I really got into it and couldn’t put it down. This a Story about a girl named Lily and the struggles she goes thru after a terrible accident and accepting and acknowledging that the boy she sees in her mirror is real and his name is Jackson. At first she thinks she’s going crazy but after extensive research and spending every possible moment with him, she realizes she’s not. Unfortunately after shutting her family, friends, and boyfriend out now they are starting to worry about her mental health. You’ll get all the feels and ups and downs when reading this because there’s love, adventure, new friendships forged, you’ll experience her battle with lies and betrayal plus the proverbial slap in the face reality check when it all comes to a close at the end….which by the way ends on a cliffy and it’s a slight doozy. But the wait to find out what is in store for Lily next will be well worth it. I Definitely recommend this book!!

What a unique take on the coming-of-age trope.
I liken this book to a steamier version of those fantasy books I grew up with. And now since I’m older - much older - this story is perfect for me
Lily is a young woman who thinks she might be going crazy when she keeps seeing a young guy in her mirror following a car wreck. What makes it worse is that she’s falling for him which makes her life more complicated.
Love the blend of science fiction mixed with new adult romance. Story is slightly predictable but the plot is intriguing with the mystery surrounding who Jackson is and why they seem to be fated. Future books promise an RH I’m looking forward to learning how that will play out since it’s a slow burn.
Be prepared for a twisty cliffhanger.

Intriguing and exciting story!
I really enjoyed this story! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through and continually wavering back and forth on whether Lily was seeing things or not. The suspense had me gripping my kindle tightly not knowing how this was all going to turn out and then that ending happened and it just left me speechless. I am still reeling after finishing the book because there are so many unanswered questions and I am left unable to see where the story is going to turn next. It was captivating, intense, emotional and highly entertaining.
I don’t want to give anything away from the story, just know it was well written with phenomenal characters and a plot line that is filled with suspense, drama, twists and turns that will leave you shocked and begging for more.
I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds.

Amazingly Unique
This is such a unique and intriguing story. Lily is pulled from a car wreck and saved by a mysterious boy who she sees in mirrors. She has to deal with her parents and her boyfriend Ty thinking she’s going crazy from hitting her head during the accident. She starts to believe that Jackson, her boy in the mirror, is real and she goes searching for answers. There’s so many interesting things happening with the whole inter-dimensional aspect here as Lily and Jackson compare worlds. It’s definitely a slow burn with the harem being built over time through more books, but it’s an awesome story. The ending had me sitting on the edge of my seat and dying for more!

This book was awesome. It had me questioning what was real and what wasn't. Was she imagining it or was there really a boy talking to her in the mirror? I like that she knows this and questions it, but she also continues because what if it's NOT all in her head? What if the boy in the mirror is real? What if? It really gains momentum towards the end and by that point, you're just hanging on for the ride while the story is on a head-on collision course with all the potential outcomes. You're on the edge of your seat, biting your nails, praying that it doesn't end badly for her. I seriously loved this book and can't wait to find out what happens next.

This is a New To Me author, so (and I am so sorry to say) I didn't have too high of a standard. What I do have, is a weird obsession with anything Bloody Mary/mirror magic I can get my hands on... thus this book.
It did take me a bit of time to get into a book, my biggest hangup was that the FMC was only 17 years old, but am I ever glad I stuck with it.
This book is mind blowing phenomenal, I love the characters, I love the whole idea of other realms and I love Bailey James!
There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, so now I am left wanting more...
When is the next book coming out?!?!?!

There’s multi dimensions…sci fi stories have told us for years in movies and books…so could it be real ? Lily and Jackson’s love story is fun, sad at times, and incredibly frustrating for them as they try to lead their lives and get to know each other. No one believes Lily…and she’s worried about who will come for her when the truth comes out.
This was alot of fun to read and I’m excited to read the next book!

Wow - I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The story pulls the reader in and you spend the majority of the read wondering if the FMC is hallucinating. The FMC, Lily, is involved in a car accident after seeing a mysterious guy in her rear view mirror. He pulls her out of her sinking car and saves her life. From there it’s a series of twist and turns that keeps the reader wondering what to believe. Is the guy real? Is she crazy? Without spoiling the story, you will get some answers at the end; however, you are left with about a million more as well.

This book you guys... It has you wondering if everything’s real until you don’t know what is up or down anymore. It sucks you in and doesn’t let go until you’ve finished it, and then you’re left waiting for more!
I feel sooo bad for Ty, he tries so hard to be an understanding, supporting boyfriend but what Lily goes through is obviously above his pay grade 😝.
And the ending! What an ending it was, I just can’t deal with it, I need more like right now. The last chapter is so full of suspense that I almost cried at the end 😂. I loved every single thing about this book, so go buy it 😉.

Now that is one hell of a unique story! Absolutely amazing, creative & made me question everything the whole way through! I wondered at one point if I was crazy! There’s not a whole lot I can say without giving away the story, and trust me YOU NEED TO READ IT! That ending left me speechless and cheering so hard! I do kind of wish that someone would have followed all the way through, but the fact they now know the truth…priceless! I will be on pins and needles waiting for the next book! I can’t wait!

This story is a total mind bender. I honestly couldn’t figure out whether certain things were real or imagined by the MC.
I absolutely loved it! The writing and character development are amazing! I loved the action, the suspense, the emotion, the mystery, it is all sooo gooood! And the ending… Wow! It definitely leaves you begging for more!
This book definitely did not have a problem grabbing and keeping my attention. It’s a page turner for sure. I simply cannot wait to see where this story goes in the next book.
